According to the Office of the Speaker of the House, most Americans support President Obama’s economic “stimulus” package, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The Office states that a new Washington Post/ABC News poll recently released stated that:
• Sixty-four percent of Americans support the economic recovery package, while 35 percent oppose the plan.
• Sixty-two percent say the economic recovery package will aid their local economy, while 25 percent say that it will hurt it.
“Almost all Americans consider the size of the federal budget deficit to be a problem, with nearly six in 10 ‘very concerned’ about it. But even so, most, 63 percent, said additional federal action will be needed to improve the economy.” - Washington Post 2/23/09.
And after the President’s speech, a CBS poll showed that 79 percent of people approved his plan for economic crisis (CBS News Special Report, 2/24/09).
Here is a “fact check” analysis of President Obama’s speech.
