As a professional, no-nonsense kind of gal, I know how important it is to find products that work well, and to find them at a reasonable cost, which can be much harder in today’s world of high end, overpriced beauty lines. I also know how inconvenient it is spending the time and money comparing products, only to find out that what you bought was far from worth the effort. Which is why you have me. I am searching the cosmetic aisles in search of what will make you look your best, while still keeping your cash where it belongs: in your wallet. Just think of me as your helpful, penny-pinching cosmetic consultant as I set out to find the best beauty grabs under 20 bucks.
Alright, so mascara has always been one of the most frustrating accessories I have ever used. It clumps, it runs, and if you dare blink while it’s still wet, you end up with those god-awful little black lines at the top of your lids… not fun. Which is why I am very selective about what I use, and I am always searching for the perfect brand that will keep my lashes looking lovely.
When I picked up Maybelline’s ‘Lash Stylist,’ it was on a whim. The little sample picture to the side of the product showed a brush that looked hard, plastic, and very much out of the ordinary, like a comb. I was intrigued, so I snatched up a tube in brownish-black. I am not sure what I was expecting, perhaps a nightmare of clumpy awfulness that the comb seemed so likely to create, but I was wrong, not to mention pleasantly surprised.
The comb separated my eyelashes nicely, making them look longer and fuller without so much as the help of a curler. The color was nice, and there was no clumping, so the effect was natural, much more than many of the waterproof types I normally stick to. Another thing: this isn’t a waterproof mascara, so I was fully expecting that it would be running down to my cheeks by the time I got back through the door; especially as it had started raining while I was in the parking lot. Besides a small amount of brush off along the lower lid, it was still clean and fresh looking, and wouldn’t have required more than a quick touch up even if I had been out longer.
With great results at a great price, you can’t go wrong with Maybelline’s ‘Lash Stylist’ Mascara.
