Skimpy eyelashes, be gone! Those words sound like the making of a cosmetic commercial, but they’re not. They’re the making of a recently approved FDA product, Latisse, which the company states will make skimpy eyelashes be gone.
Latisse is for hypotrichosis of the eyelashes, another name for having short, barely there lashes. The product is sold by prescription only and is applied once daily to the eyelash base on the top lid and should take as little as eight weeks to see results, with full benefits after 16 weeks. Latisse should NOT be applied to lower eyelashes.
A user must continue the treatment to sustain fuller, longer lashes. Otherwise, the eyelashes will return to its normal state.
Side effects can range from eye redness, itchy eyes, darkening of the eyelid and increased brown pigmentation on the iris, the colored part of the eye, which may be permanent. Latisse may also be absorbed by soft contact lenses, so it’s best to remove them prior to use, and to be reinserted 15 minutes following, the company says.
The manufacturer of the product, Allergan, is the same company that produces Botox, for the temporary treatment of moderate to severe frown lines.

I use Revitalash and love my results , but I was curious about this new product. Besides having to go through the hassle of a doctor’s appointment, I heard the product itself is a hassle. Apparently it only comes in 1-2 month supplies at a high cost and with disposable applicators… And the product is hard to keep out of your eye. IDK… it just seems like a bummer all around!! I think I will stick with what I know I like/works!
I am very tempted to try this product, but I’d like to read some reviews. Meanwhile, I bought some Dior Show mascara.
