Best Face Moisturizers

Moisturizing is the single most important preventative measure you can take to avoid the affects of aging- and it’s easy. Moisturizing should be done daily, but remember that if you don’t exfoliate at least once a month then you’ll end up just slopping moisturizer onto flaky, dead skin. If you do this, you are not helping to firm or moisten your other layers of skin and your moisturizing becomes a waste of time. You can read last month’s column to learn about some great exfoliation products to pair with the moisturizers below.
So, let’s get to rejuvenating, re-elasticizing and de-wrinkling. I’ve found 3 of the best face moisturizers, all priced about $7, well below the Jill Grabs Under 20 Bucks, that are great for any skin type.

Ponds Dry Skin Cream - I use this moisturizer every night. It is comfortingly thick, not greasy, has very little scent and makes my skin feel so soft. That being said, there are times when the thickness of this moisturizer makes me…well…a little sweaty. It seems to keep my face from being able to breathe. That only lasts for about five minutes. After that, I’m just rose petal soft. Ponds Dry Skin Cream is also hypoallergenic.

St. Ives Collagen Elastin Facial Moisturizer- This moisturizer is, by far, the best deal. It is a huge vat (10 oz) of firming moisturizer. It is a little greasy and smells a little like you might remember your grandmother smelling, but it is relatively light on the skin and definitely makes your cheek strokably smooth and firm.

Olay Complete All Day Moisture Cream - I love this Olay moisturizer for two reasons. The first, it has UV defense. Now, it’s not a good idea to depend on this alone if you’re heading to the beach, but for the drive to work, or a day shopping at the mall, this moisturizer’s UV defense is perfect. The second reason I love this moisturizer is that it has Vitamin E. If you’ve ever broken open a Vitamin E capsule and spread it on your crows feet, you know the power of the vitamin. To have it in a clean, maneuverable jar is heaven!
